What is nanofat?

  • Nanofat is a a relatively new treatment that uses your body’s own fat to improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity. Nanofat is a form of fat taken from your own body, processed into a smooth, liquid-like consistency, and then injected into the skin. It contains stem cells and growth factors that help repair the skin.

  • It is often performed in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift.

  • Nanofat can also be used on the neck and hands.

  • Dr Law uses nanofat in combination with microneedling to boost skin rejuvenation.

What are the benefits of nanofat?

  • Nanofat is made by gently extracting fat from your body (usually from the abdomen or thighs) and processing it into a liquid rich in stem cells. These stem cells are believed to:

    • Stimulate collagen growth.

    • Improve skin elasticity and hydration.

    • Reduce signs of damage from sun exposure, scars, or aging.

What is nanofat microneedling?

  • Nanofat microneedling combines two skin-rejuvenating techniques:

    • Microneedling prepares the skin to absorb nanofat more effectively.

    • Nanofat enhances skin regeneration.

Procedure Information

  • You may be a suitable candidate if you have:

    • Fine lines and wrinkles.

    • Acne scars and other types of scarring.

    • Sun damage and pigmentation problems.

    • Coarse pores.

    • Sagging or thinning skin.

    • It can also be used preventatively as an annual treatment for skin regeneration.

  • The procedure involves the following steps:

    1. Fat extraction: fat is gently removed from areas like the abdomen or thighs using a small liposuction cannula.

    2. Purification & processing
      The fat is purified and broken down into very fine particles to create “nanofat.” This step removes oils and impurities.

    3. Injection & microneedling
      The nanofat is then injected into areas of the face such as:

      • Under the eyes (to treat hollows or dark circles)

      • Dr Law also uses nanofat with microneedling on the whole face, for skin rejuvenation.

  • You will notice redness and tiny spots on your skin after the treatment, but this usually settles within a few days.

  • Your skin will begin to improve within a few weeks. Full benefits can continue to develop for up to a year as the stem cells take time to work.

Risks & complications

    • Infection: This is very rare complication. You will be given antibiotics and ointments, to help minimise this risk. 

  • Potential complications include:

    • Swelling and bruising from the area where we harvest the fat

    • Redness is expected, but should settle after a few days

    • Scarring: this is very rare, but a potential complication.
