Learning From the World’s Leading Breast Reduction Surgeons: My International Training With A/Prof. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay

Breast reduction surgery is both a science and an art. Achieving a safe, natural and long-lasting result requires an understanding of anatomy, surgical technique, proportion and, importantly, the individual needs of every patient.

Throughout my career, I have made it a priority to learn from some of the most respected breast and plastic surgeons internationally. My training with A/Prof. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay in Canada has been particularly influential in developing and refining my approach to breast reduction surgery.

About A/Prof. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay

A/Prof. Hall-Findlay has been practising in Banff, Canada and has developed an international reputation for her work in aesthetic breast surgery. She is particularly well known for her technique of breast reduction surgery, commonly referred to as the Hall-Findlay technique.

Her contribution to breast reduction surgery has been substantial. Her published work on breast reduction surgery priorities breast shape and maintaining long-term results.

Her work has been influential and she was recently invited to write a special article on breast reduction surgery in the Australasian Journal of Plastic Surgery. She is a major influence on contemporary breast reduction surgery.

Learning from A/Prof. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay

Two years ago, I travelled to Canada for a very special learning experience.

I flew into Calgary, then drove through the Canadian Rockies to Canmore to spend time with Dr Elizabeth Hall-Findlay, whose work in breast reduction surgery I had followed and respected for many years.

During the visit, I was able to spend time with Dr Hall-Findlay at her private clinic and at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, learning more about her approach to breast reduction surgery and mastopexy, including the techniques and principles that have shaped the Hall-Findlay method.

Medicine is a career of ongoing learning, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn directly from someone who has contributed so much to the field of breast surgery.

And, of course, getting to experience the Canadian Rockies along the way made the trip even more memorable!
